What to wear to an engagement session?

I get this question all the time, so I wanted to add some suggestions. The main advice I give to get more out of your engagement session is to have fun with it! Don’t settle for the matching jeans and tops look. Realistically, we will only shoot two outfits in the time we have, but options are always good so bring along several outfits and any accessories. Dressing up is always fun and accessories can really make a difference. Also, feel free to bring props! If there are items such as guitars or a cute vintage bicycle  that relate to the two of you as a couple (one serenades the other with a guitar at night, you go on weekly bike rides together, etc) Bring them!! It really adds to the uniqueness and personality of your images.

Some General Tips

-Try to stick with colors that look good together and are in the same color family (light blue, dark blue, with an accent color). There ARE colors that do not go well together, please feel free to ask when in doubt!

-Solids or very minimal patterns, if there is too much going on it will distract from the main focus, which is you!!

-Comfortable fitted clothing (don’t wear items that are super baggy, or obviously way too tight.) Wear something that is flattering on you (this pertains more to girls, guys, you just have it easier.) That being said, match what your lady is wearing, if she wants to get dressy and wear that cute dress she just bought, don’t wear flipflops and ragged shorts with a t-shirt.

- Nice jeans with a dressier top looks good. Girls, colored heels are FUN! Stay away from t-shirts with lots of writing on them.

-Fun accessories, scarfs, jewelry, sunglasses, jackets, etc.

-Don’t forget your props!

When in doubt, bring multiple outfits and I will be happy to lend a suggestion!
